Family pictures in Downtown Excelsior are a bit magical, I must say. For those lucky few folks who live within walking distance, the calm waters and laid back vibe of lazy summer evenings around town is a daily activity. For the rest of us, it's a true treat. When planning your family photos this summer or fall, Excelsior is a great option. Not only is the scenery by the lake beautiful for photos, there are always plenty of "doggy" says Kira to find along the way.
We started at my studio next to Lick's Unlimited and casually walked down to the dock for a few stater photos. We lucked out - in mid September the weather was a perfect 70 degrees and the sail boats scattered across the lake were fun to count.
We walked through "The Commons" past the baseball fields and over to the beach for a few lakeside shots. I often have Mom's call me up and say "we're pretty casual, could we get family photos outside?" This is a great option, especially with the kiddos because it's easy to stop at the playground for a round of swings or throw rocks together into the water to get those beautiful little "in between" moments. Not only are we creating beautiful photos, we're keeping the whole experience family-memory-focused. It's important to me that Mom and Dad have a good time too, and this is a great way to do that.
